Reflexion of Stop Motion

After finishing my stop motion project on can reflect on the process. I decided on my idea because I knew I wanted to draw a bunny and I chose another object that looked similaer and that is how I came up with the metal horns. My idea did change will i was doing the project because since I had a shortage of pictures I needed to add more. The biggest challenge was erasing the previous frame without damaging the paper. I had to erase very carefully. I really enjoyed this project since I love create any type of art. If I could redo my project I would make the bunny7 look a bit more realistic. I do not consider animation as a future career since I am awful at drawing but I am interested in the arts. All-in-all, I really enjoyed stop motion and I hope we do more of it.

Medium Slelection

After considering many ways I could have done my stop motion I have finally decided. I have considered using plasticine, cut paper, and lego. I ended deciding on charcoal. I chose it because it is the simplest way. I can erease it and use the same paper throughout the whole project. The bad thing is that I will not be able to use colors. I will really have to focus on putting a lot of detail to make up for it. Nevertheless, I think charcoal is the best option and I'm sure it will turn out great.

Stop Motion

My defenition for stop motion is a series of images shown fast enough to show movement. All the videos in moodle are great examples of this. Mypersonal favorite is Abstract Thoughts. It has a sort of hypnotizing effect on the viewer. I think creating stop motion videos is a great idea. It is a lot more creative and fun to watch and there is just so much you can do with it that you can with regular videos. I am guessing the steps of creating one are planning, creating a rough draft, then creating each scene, take a snapshot, then change it a little bit. I personaly enjoy watching stop motion and I think it is a great way of art.

William Kentridge

After seeing William's work I am very impressed. It is very abstract but brilliant. I specially admire his patience to do something like this. The feeling it bring are the viewer are weird. When I saw it I felt very bizarre. It seems like something you would only see in dreams. It gives out a dark vibe since the only color used. To conclude, I really like William Kentridge's artwork even though it makes me feel funny.

Explaining this work to a blind person is very complicated. I would say something like it being a series of images shown fast enough to show movement. However, a blind person has no idea what are images so it would be a real dilema. I imagine the process to create a stop motion animation is very complicated. I believe that first he has to plan everything out as in what he wants to do and the order in which things will happen. Then he does a rough sketch of what it will look like. Then he does the actual work having to take a picture then erease it and draw it slightly different. I bet you have to be very patient and talented to creat a stop motion animation like William.

What is a Mash Up

A mash up is the combining of two or more songs to create one. Usually, one beat or music is placed as a base of the song then sections of the songs like the chorus and verses take turns playing. One of my favorite mash ups is Jay-Z and Linkin Park's Numb/Encore. What makes a good mash up is to chose two sons that are different but would go good together. For example, you would never chose pop and opera since they have different tempos and sound horrible together. Another good mash up is Lil' Wayne and Jason Mraz's version of I'm Yours. I do believe that someone who does a mash up is a musician since he/she is creating a piece of musicIn my opinion a bad mash up is one where the voice of one song doesn't go with the beat and it sounds awkward. Mash ups are fun and great if done correctly.

Family Reunion

Out of all the crappy family reunions I´ve had I can only remember one of them being good. It was christmas of 2005. Every year the whole family comes together for a christmas party and a gift exchange. These are usually boring and mind numbing since soccer is the only thing in my families head. I was nine and was anxious to recieve my present. The gift exchange was at the end so meanwhile i was just sitting in a corner eating chocolates. Finaly the time came, everyone exchanged gifts with the name they had chosen randomly a week before. My cousin gave me a box of lego which is the coolest hing you can get at the age of nine. Those legos where my good friends for the next year and thats why I remember that family reunion so much.

Artefact of the Future Process

It was quite frustrating to create the Wave Master. Creating the actual control panel was easy. All I had to do was to cut and past a few stuff. I really liked how it turned out. It was creating the robo-surfers that was hard. I followed the Boble-head tutorial. There where many steps that were hard to understand. Especially the one where you made the face of the guy look shiny like a doll. I didn't really like how it looks. I would probably do it more carefully if I did it again. The other tutorial about blurring things in the background was pretty simple. All-in-all I think it turned out pretty good.

I you click here you will see Julian's work. Even though it is not an actual artifact I think he did a very good job. It looks very professional in my opinion. You can tell he followed the tutorials by the letter. I would like to learn how to create rain in a picture with a sunny background. The cracks in the cats body look great as well. It almost looks real. I think his is my favorite one out of all the other ones.

I think that having the Wave Master would be amazing. You wouldn't have to wait for a swell. You could surf anywhere at any time. You don't have to travel to Hawaii if you are looking for monster waves. You can create your own signature wave. I doubt they will ever create something like this, though. But if it was in the market I would break my piggy-bank right away.
Imagine how cool having the Wave Master would be.

My Artefact of the Future

It has taken a long time to make up my mind. I decided on a wave creator. It is basically a pole with a control panel witch you stick into the sand and you can customize the waves. It will have the option to change the wave height, speed, barrel, and how close it forms to the shore. I chose it because I love surfing. I don't surf though (even though I have tried) but I love watching it. I will basically out a cool beach background and create the panel with shapes. I will try to make it look realistically as possible. I believe I can create something really cool as long as I really make an effort.

Frames

I choose three types of frames for this particular project. One for me, one for the guys, and one for the girls. The one i picked for me is a lighter han the rest so that it is more more noticeable. For the guys I chose a similar one but with a darker color. For the girls i chose a think, elegant frame that is pretty girly. These will look very good on my project.

Family Tree

The tree I chose was a willow tree. I chose this not only because it is amazing and it looks awesome. When I go to Chicago in the summer I always admire the willow trees around the small lakes. I also like that it looks as though they are drinking the water. I also really like lakes and willow trees always grow next to them. People say they look sad but my opinion is totally different. They look colorful and joyful to me. This tree will be perfect for this project.

Spring Map Testing

We have just finished Map Testings and I am actually really pleased with myself. My scores improved since October. I got higher or equal scores than last time with minimal effort. I was familiar with most of the questions. In all three of them I was one of the first to to finish. Of course, this doesn't mean I enjoyed them. I felt a lot of pressure while doing them and I had headaches. Nevertheless I survived Map Testings and I am really proud of myself.

How to Survive Seventh Grade Presentations

I have seen many of these presentation and I noticed a lot of important things. For example, many of my classmates focus on more general terms like not being late to class and being organized. I actually made a slide about every teacher and how to pass their class. Most of the other presentation had no animations which I thought was kind of boring. I put enough animations to make it more fun but not so much that are too distracting. They were all actually very good. I wish I was given one of this presentations before entering high school to have been more prepared.

Powerpoint Rules

Powrpoint has some basic rules in order to make a good presentation. First and one of the most important, don't put every word you are going to say in your slides because this makes the audience know that you don't really know what you are talking about and it also makes the presentation boring. Also, after you finish a slide go back and check for spelling mistakes. Never put too much bullet points because they will loose their purpose of making a key piece of information stand out. Remember to make the background color not distracting and also make sure the color of the font makes it stand out. It is important to keep the presentation short with a minimum number of slides so that the audience doesn't get bored. A problem a lot of people have is that they have too much data in one slide which then gets hard to read and understand. Don't put too much distracting animations for they will be very distracting. Always make the font a good size and easy to read. Following these steps you will always make a great presentation.

Earth Day Videos Peer Evaluation

I learned many thing that I didn't even consider before while grading other videos. This really helped me learn the rubric by heart. Now I noticed I few flaws in my video. For example, I forgot the school policy and put our last names in the credits Both of the videos I graded where actually really good. But there where a few silly mistakes in there like forgetting to put credits. The other errors where really hard to fix like in there is a video of them running and you can hear the wind which is too loud and doesn't let you hear their voices or the music. There are a lot of great things in the 12th grade video. The music goes really well with the voice and it sounds very professional. The problem is that the poem was too short and boring. I am glad we did this so that I could see the errors I was making.

Old Gregg Biography

I was born in a little underwater cave in lake Michigan. I grew with my parents and brothers. When I was old enough we each to0ok our separate ways. Now I live in the Mississippi River. I have become quite famous actually. There are many legends on how I eat the local fishers. The truth is that I don't, I have a steady diet of slurpees and Tai food.......I only knock them unconscious, take them to my cave, and offer them a drink. I get kind of lonely you know. In 2010 I won a granny for my great hit "The Scaly Man-fish" were I talked about my life. I am married to a frog named Geltrudis. My plans for the future are to start a band and travel around the world as The Funk.

8th Grade Video

The eight grade students did a fantastic job creating this video. The part I enjoyed the most was that each segment was made by a different person so it was different to the rest. Each person showed their personality on this video. I would like to learn how to create those types of special effects on a video. The defects were minor and almost unnoticeable. In general they did a fantastic job and I can tell they really worked hard. Here you can see the video.

# 305

I've broken many rules in my life. I I had to choose my favorite 20 broken rules they would be the following. Once In a restaurant I said "No shirt, no shoes, no service" so I decided to go in only wearing my underwear. Another time we started singing a metal song in the middle of a church. I have also broken very simple rules like "don't talk in class" or " don't sleep in class". I don't know if this one counts but I once really mad a police officer mad by making fun of his uniform. I say rules are meant to be broken.

I have not broken, but destroyed rules sometimes. I killed the rule "when your teacher is not in the classroom stall in your chair" by throwing a shoe to a fan and accidentally breaking a light. Another time Sebas, Mateo, Julian and Me ran around a mall in our boxers. Once my mother told me to take care of my sister but I forgot and went out skateboarding leaving her alone (I'm not proud by the way). I always break the "don't look at the answers at the back of the book" rule. Not only break the do not trespass rule but I broke the sign (accidentally). I took a nap next to a sign that said " Please don't step in the grass (now that I think about it I didn't break it because I laid on the grass not stepped on it).

I'm starting to run short on broken rules but I got a few more. One of these is borrowing a golf cart without permittion from a Club and then crashing it (so that counts like two). Also, using your hands in soccer when you are not the goalie... I have done that a lot. A have pretty much Broken rules from every sport. Well that is a part of learning it. Those are all the broken rules I can remember for now.

The Sixth Scence Technology

When I first saw the new technology I was truly amazed. Then I thought that it was about time. We are always seeing movies and TV shows like Star Trek and Star Wars wondering if we are ever going to be that advanced. This is a small step to greater technology. I also really liked when he mentioned that it will help us be more active and not be sitting down in front of a screen all day. Maybe I wouldn't really like to have one right now because it is still too uncommon and a little out there but in a future were this type of gadgets are common count me in! I love how you have take pictures and do more stuff just by doing gestures. Who knows, maybe in a future will will live in a space colony several light years from Earth.

Technology in general has several advantages and disadvantages. Technology has helped us evolve as a species. In we did not have the ability to create technology we would probably be extinct by now. But what is sometimes good to one is harmful to others. Our technology is pollution the Earth and killing the other organisms around us. There are also this theories that we are starting to depend so much in machines that robots will take over the world. Technology is a positive thing as long as we know how to use it wisely.

An open source means that it is free to use, anyone can use it, and that people can modify it ti for fill their needs. There many pros and cons of sharing such a modern software like this one. First of all it is fantastic that anyone can access to it. Of course no one would get a profit from making it. Another good thing is that people could share whatever modifications they make with the rest of the world. One of the open sources I use is Moodle which is great because if I miss a day to school I can see everything they did in class.

What I Did On Winter Break

I had a average Christmas. A few days after school was over i went over to Guadalajara because that's where my family is. We arrived at y grandparents house. My mom would go out shopping for gifts and I would usually stay in the house using the computer or playing pool with my uncle. Finally, we had the family dinner and gift exchange which we have every year. I got a T-Shirt that ended up being to small for me but it was okay because I didn't like it anyways. I gave a cousin a Guess wallet. I said It was a boring gift but m mom insisted. The next day was Christmas. I say my younger brothers open their presents. I didn't get any presents (at the moment) but it was okay because I was sure my parents had bought something on the U.S. and asked a friend to bring it when she came. That same day I went back to Puerto Vallarta with my dad because he had to work and I was just sick of Guadalajara.

On Puerto Vallarta I called up Mark and invited him over to spend a few nights. He brought over his new guitar they gave him for Christmas. We spent some time playing and composing a song. Then, he showed me how to hack computer games. I found that very cool because you could change everything from your money to your level or abilities. We took out my dog on the bike. Since there was only one bike we took turns walking the dog. We were out for like an hour and a half. We were very tired so we had dinner and saw a movie. We were awake until one in the morning then we finally went to bed. The next day we went to Flamingos Beach to hong out. We swam a bit then just relaxed. We ordered a plate of fries and some tropical beverages. We had to go leave him at his house around six.

My god mother who lives in Chicago came over for New Year's. She is like my second mother. She gave me an Egyptian necklace for late Christmas present and then she surprised me with and Itouch which my parents asked her to bring it as a Christmas gift too. I was in shock. I had always wanted one of these. We spent New Year's on Flamingos Beach. There was fireworks and a lot of hugging. We had to hug evrybody from the family and there was at least 30. We at tacos and some more mexican food. We talked, we had fun, and finally, we went home at like 3 in the morning to sleep.
